Mathews K. Mathew of Kottayam (Kerala) has invented a unique solar mosquito destroyer. It is a cost-effective and environment-friendly solution to destroy mosquitoes. It simply attracts the files from a drainage/septic tank and trap them into the translucent top (‘solar furnace’), where they perish in the heat of the sun. Mosquitoes have low heat resistance capacity and hence they get killed. The innovation is based completely on generating heat from solar energy, which kill mosquitoes that are attracted by sewage gas.
