Cherthala-based Travancore Cocotuft (P) Ltd, Kerala, India, has made a doormat measuring 101.6m (333.3ft) in length, 1.2m (4ft) in width, 30mm thick and weighing 999 kg, over a span of four months, by using 4, 70,000 coir tufts (between alternate wefts of coir yarn). The cost of the doormat is 4 lakhs and was unveiled at a press conference by P. Mahadevan, CEO (Travancore Cocotuft (P) Limited), on January 29, 2010, at the factory in Thiruvizha near Cherthala.
